Women Secure Majority in Historic Win
Adv. R. J. Singh has been elected as the President of the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) Bar Association, Mumbai, following the elections held on May 7, 2026. The panel led by Adv. Singh achieved a landslide victory, securing 10 out of the 11 available seats in the Managing Committee.
The newly elected leadership for the three-year term includes:
President: Adv. R. J. Singh
Vice President: Adv. Sunil Humbre
Secretary: Adv. Gaurang Kinkhabwala
Joint Secretary: Adv. Mumtaz Khan
Treasurer: Adv. Sonali Jain
In a significant milestone for gender representation, six of the 11 elected members are women. This majority directly aligns with the recent directives and dicta of the Hon’ble Supreme Court regarding the inclusion of women in bar association leadership.
Following the announcement of the results, Adv. R. J. Singh expressed his gratitude to the members of the DRT Bar Association for their overwhelming support. “This emphatic win is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the previous Managing Committee,” Adv. Singh stated. “The Bar has sent a clear message that our past performance was satisfactory, and we are committed to continuing our service with even greater vigor over the next three years.”
The election results have been hailed as a mandate for continuity and progress within the Mumbai legal community specializing in debt
